Funeral service for Ms. Dorothy Ellis “Dot” Whitehead, age 99, of Fayetteville will be conducted at 3 PM on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Ellis Coats officiating. Burial will follow in Wright’s Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1 PM until 3 PM Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Higgins Funeral Home.
Dot was born on September 3, 1921 in Lincoln County, TN to the late John F. and Reba Murphy Ellis. She was a pinker at Serbin. Dot loved cooking and working in her flowers. She was a member of the Church of Christ that meets at Friendship. Dot passed away on March 3, 2021.
Ms. Whitehead is survived by her sons, Randy (Karen) Whitehead of Boonshill and Gerry (Lisa) Whitehead of Cookeville; daughter, Denise (Matt) Brooks of Collierville; grandchildren, Scott (Cheryl) Whitehead, Leta (Chris) Bishop, Bret Whitehead, Sarah Whitehead, Jeffrey (Jessica) Brooks, and Abby Brooks; great-grandchildren, Jonah Whitehead, Jessie Whitehead, Olivia Bishop, Noah Bishop, and Makenzie Whitehead; and sisters, Betty Margaret (Rhinard) Troup of Memphis, Jo Anne (John) Price of Huntsville, AL, and Peggy Brown of Memphis. In addition to her parents, Ms. Whitehead was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Holman Whitehead, and brother, James Phillip Ellis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wright’s Cemetery, c/o Sherry Davis, 284 Red Oak Road, Petersburg, TN 37144 or any charity of your choice.
The family of Ms. Whitehead kindly request that you wear a face covering at the service on Saturday, which will be provided.
