Dorothy CollinsDorothy Elizabeth Rush Collins, age 91 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, formerly of Shelbyville, Tennessee died Sunday, September 21, 2025. She was raised in Laurel Mississippi and was a daughter of the late Charles and Vallie Rush of Laurel, Mississippi, and Shelbyville, Tennessee.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Murfreesboro. She was a devoted wife and mother. As a wife of a minister, she spent a lot of time involved in church activities with her beloved husband. She loved God and was a faithful servant.

She is survived by sons, Sam Collins (Debbie) of Murfreesboro, Danny Collins (Alisa) of Panama City Beach, Florida, Jim Watlington (Marla) of Shelbyville, and three grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles Melvin Collins; a sister, Margaret Duncan of Kentucky; and infant daughter, Melonie Beth Collins.

Visitation with the Collins family will be at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 2:00 until 5:00pm. A graveside services will be 10:00am Monday at Pressgrove Cemetery near Unionville with Reverend Dr. Drew Shelley officiating. Rory Collins, Chad Collins, Ned Collins, and Charlie Collins will serve as pallbearers.

Thanks to Adams Place Independent Living for a wonderful atmosphere and the special friends she made there. A special thank you to Adams Place Rehab nurses, techs, and staff for the wonderful excellent care she received during the last six weeks of her precious life.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
