Notice for Dot Christine McFerrinDorothy “Dot” Christine McFerrin, 99, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at her home. She was born December 1, 1925, in Meridian, to By Hugh and Eula Maude Rivers Waddle. She was in the first class to graduate from Mantachie High School in 1951. She was a charter member of the Mantachie Pilot Club. She served as Grand Martha of Eastern Star to Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Grand Patron in State of Mississippi. She held other officer positions in the local Fulton Chapter #313. She served as District Deputy Grand Matron and served as Grand Representative of Eastern Star. She retired from North Mississippi Medical Center where she began as switchboard operator and then worked in the mailroom. She was in the Mantachie Homemakers Club and was the leader of Mantachie Four Leaf Clover Club. She was a longtime member of the Mantachie First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing.

Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, at the Mantachie First Baptist Church with Dr. John Adams and Bro. David Long officiating. Burial will be in the Mantachie Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one son, Randy Keyron McFerrin (Colene); one daughter, Jennifer Wilda McFerrin; three grandchildren, Jonathan Owen (Marianna), Jennifer Lewis (Richard), and Rachel Gardner (Richie); five great grandchildren, Julianna Lopez, Noah Lopez, Isaiah Lopez, David Owen, and Matthew Lewis; three nieces, Carolyn Denham, Regina Dickinson (Wayne), and Susan Palmer; one nephew, Glen Waddle; several great nieces and great nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Keyron “Key” McFerrin; two brothers, Clarence Waddle and James Waddle; one sister, Judy Farrar; and her parents.

Pallbearers will be Eric Dickinson, Michael Dickinson, Marty Dickinson, Glen Waddle, Jackie Dale Riley, and Freddy Yielding.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Mantachie First Baptist Church.
