Dorothy Dale Coker – Obituary

 Dorothy Dale Coker, 93, went to be with her heavenly father Sunday, September 2, 2018 at home. A lifelong Birmingham Ridge Community native, Dorothy was born March 31, 1925 to Guy Easterling and Maxine Hendrix Easterling. In 1946, she married her Sailor sweet heart, Alvis Lenzy Coker. She was a homemaker who raised three daughters and one son. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and sewing all her children’s clothing. She was a lifelong Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church member.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 72 years Alvis Coker, Sr. of Birmingham Ridge Community; three daughters, Diane Mears of Saltillo, Judy Erwin of Birmingham Ridge Community and Phyllis Blanton and her husband Mart of Birmingham Ridge Community; five grandchildren, Tracy Mears of Moulton, Alabama, Randy Mears and his wife Wanda of New Albany, Linda Brown and her husband Darin of Birmingham Ridge Community, Kathy Lansdell and her husband Avery of Birmingham Ridge Community and Ryan Blanton of Guntown; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Sarah Easterling of Birmingham Ridge Community.

She was preceded by her parents, Guy and Maxine Easterling; son Alvis Lenzy Coker, Jr. ; three brothers, Raymond Easterling, Eugene Easterling and Kenneth Easterling and sons-in-law, Danny Mears and James Erwin.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Bobby Holland officiating. Graveside services will follow at McNeil Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2018 at W. E. Pegues, Saltillo.
