Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Cooper, age 75 of Goodwater, were held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Bro. David Grogan officiating. Burial followed at Antioch Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooper passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Russell Medical Center. Born in Talladega, she spent the majority of her life in Clay County. She was a graduate of Goodwater High school and worked for over 30 years at Wellborn’s Cabinets in the drawer department. “Grandma Cooper” loved her grandbabies, all of her friends and family. She had a kind heart that enjoyed helping others, and put everyone else’s needs first. Mrs. Cooper loved to make picture albums, cooking, The Game Show Network and Dancing with the Stars. She enjoyed going to church, attending gospel singings and was a member of Bethel Christian Church (Ashland).
She is survived by her children: Deon Coker (Bill) of Sylacauga, Johnny Cooper of Ashland, Deanna Davis (Mark) of Ashland and Tracy Patterson (Steve) of Millerville, her sister, Nancy Sherum (Ray) of Goodwater, two brothers: Wayne Grogan (Maureen) of Sylacauga and David Grogan (Sue) of Millerville, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Grogan and Lucille Neville Grogan, her husband, J.P. Cooper, her grandson, Grant Cooper, her sister, Barbara Hendon and her brother, Ray Grogan.
Mrs. Cooper’s grandsons served as her pallbearers.
Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of the arrangements.
