Dorothy Carwile Lyles, age 88, passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2026. She was born on March 30th, 1938, to the late Alvie Carwile and Virta Carwile.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of God. She and her beloved husband, Clenon Lyles, shared an extraordinary marriage of almost 70 years, building a life centered on faith, family, and love.
For 68 years, Dorothy was a faithful member of First Church, where she worshiped and served alongside her church family. She was a dedicated homemaker who found great joy in caring for her family. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, reading books, and spending time with those she loved most. Her warm smile, contagious laughter, and joyful spirit brought happiness to everyone around her. She treasured family gatherings and was happiest when surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Virta Carwile; her siblings, Buddy Carwile, Annette Lauderdale, Jimmy Carwile, and Judy Brown.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 70 years, Clenon Lyles; her children, Christy Murphy and husband Anthony, Joey Lyles, and Karen Pearson and husband Nathan; her sister, Patsy Young and husband Philip; her grandchildren, Brandt Murphy and wife Bethany, Heather Bridges and husband Matt, Devin Claunch, Laken Renegar and husband Brandon, and Brady Hoskins and wife Briley; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Dorothy’s legacy of love, faith, kindness, and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She immensely enjoyed gardening and sewing. Her unwavering devotion to her family and her joyful spirit were gifts to everyone blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Pallbearers will be Devin Claunch, Brandt Murphy, Brady Hoskins, Brandon Renegar, Bryson Renegar, and Nathan Claunch.
Visitation for Mrs. Lyles will be Thursday, June 11th, 2026 from 12pm until 1:45pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bruce Johnson and Allen Gandy officiating the service in the Chapel at 2pm.
