Dorothy B. Allen, 83, of Madison, passed away Tuesday.
Mrs. Allen was a beloved Math and Social Studies teacher for 28 years in the Madison School System. While there, she was voted favorite teacher by students for many years. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed square dancing, traveling, and playing the piano. Mrs. Allen loved imparting knowledge to young minds, her church, and the Lord. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was loved by all and will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by mother, Mabel Rogers Blakely; father, Allen Blakely; brother, Ray Blakely; and sister, Frances Blakely Frederick.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jesse B. Allen; son, Michael Wayne Allen and wife Kelly; daughter, Patricia Allen Gore; grandchildren, Kimberly Allen Brown and husband Conrad, and Derek Allen Gore; great granddaughters, Addilynn Shay Brown, and Skylar Ann Brown; sisters, Doris Blakely Jones, and Lois Blakely Brannon; brothers, John Blakely, and Frank Blakely; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cornerstone Word of Life Church, 3783 Sullivan St, Madison, AL 35758. Services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Mark Garver officiating.
Interment will be Friday at 1:00 pm at Taylor Cemetery in Guntersville, AL.
