Dorothy Ann Smith Dorothy Ann Smith, 82, left this life January 31, 2025.

Born and raised in Oroville, California, she was the ninth child of Elmer and Eva Gladys Smith. A member of Berry Creek Rancheria of Maidu Indians of California, she earned her LPN nursing degree in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the Indian School of Nursing shortly after high school. She was then sent to Staton Island, New York, to work at the Public Health Hospital. She met the love of her life, Bobby Smith (from Jolo, WV), who was stationed there with the military, on a blind date. During their marriage they traveled to many bases, and at each destination Dorothy loved exploring different cultures and learning new hobbies. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, bowling, baking, cake decorating, Greek cooking classes, line dancing and working in nursing homes taking care of the elderly.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Bobby; daughter Charmion Jeffreys; Son-in-law Jon Jeffreys; grandchildren Kristopher Jeffreys and Angelina Jeffreys; and brother Cecil Smith.

She is preceded in death by her sons Noah Smith and Robert Smith; sisters Velda McCormick, Eleanor Bolton, Cecilia Brock and Adriana Smith; brothers Richard Smith, Everett Smith, JD Smith, Charles Smith and Adrian Smith.

The memorial service will be Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Jeremy Meetze officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., at the chapel.

Dorothy will be cremated and at a later date interned at Sitto Indian Cemetery in Berry Creek, California.

She will be sadly missed by her family.
