Dorothy Ann McKee Simpkins, 92, longtime resident of Spring Hill, died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Williamson Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with The Reverend Father Chris Bowhay officiating. Burial will follow in St. Johns Churchyard. The family will visit with friends Monday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born August 12, 1926 in Maury County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Major Herbert Allen McKee, Sr. and the late Christine Patterson McKee Porter. In November 1947, she married Dr. Carl Newton Simpkins, Jr. who preceded her in death May 27, 2011. She attended Maryville College and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Mrs. Simpkins was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Spring Hill.

Survivors include her son, Carl N. Simpkins, III of Spring Hill; daughters, Mary Simpkins of Rockville, Maryland; Laura Simpkins (Farrell) Levy of Knoxville; granddaughters, Rachel Elaine Levy (Joe) Patton of Clinton, Tennessee; Carolyn Lillian Levy (Eric) Gilliam of Knoxville; great grandchildren, Luke Edward Patton, Macey Elaine Gilliam, James Farrell Gilliam; and nine nieces and nephews, Mary Margaret, Carol, Nancy, Sherry, Herbie, Bonnie, Vic, Richard, and Robert.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah Ellen Simpkins, D.D.S; sister, Jenny Williams; and brothers, Herbert Allen “Mac” McKee, Jr., and Victor Patterson “Pat” McKee.

Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
