Dorothy Ann “Granny” Shouse Beard

Dorothy Ann “Granny” Shouse Beard, age 92, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday evening, November 9, 2019 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 1PM at The Pentecostals of Columbia Church with Pastor Telford Tharp and Rev. Jason Keyser officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 4-8PM and again on Tuesday from 12-1PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on May 19, 1927 in Maury County, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Irvin McKee and the late Addie Shouse McKee. She was a lifetime member and currently one of the oldest members of The Pentecostals of Columbia Church. She served as an ordained minister in the Pentecostal Church. During her lifetime she worked in several different shirt factories, and besides her work as a homemaker, she loved working in her flowers. Dorothy was a people person who never met a stranger and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

She is survived by children: David Beard of Columbia, Wanda (Jacky) Rowland of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Tracy (Steve) Ellis, Leah (Aaron) Bigger, Lori (Jameson) Stinnett, Toni (Lance) Malcolm; great grandchildren: Tanner, Taylor, and Tatum Ellis, Avery and Kyler Bigger, Briton Beard, and Abbie, Natalie, and Levi Malcolm; and daughter in law: Joyce Beard.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Marion Beard; son, Ernest Carroll Beard; daughter in law, Patricia June Beard; and brother, Charles Edward “Buck” Shouse.

 

Pallbearers will be: Steve Ellis, Aaron Bigger, Jameson Stinnett, Lance Malcolm, Tanner Ellis, Taylor Ellis, and Briton Beard. Honorary pallbearers will include: Dr. Charles Ball and all of the past and present members of The Pentecostals of Columbia Church.
