Dorothy-Hampton-1451133775Dorothy Alice Singletary Hampton, age 88, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Dorothy was born on May 7, 1927 in Cairo, Georgia to Cecil Singletary and Lema Jackson Singletary. She spent several years doing evangelistic work on her on. Then she married Pleais Hampton, and they happily served the Lord together for many years in full pastoral ministry in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee, all while raising their family of two children. She also spent forty years as a dedicated Sunday school teacher. She was an artist in the true sense of the word, both writing and painting. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a member of Moultrie Church of the Nazarene.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved children: Berry L. (Tangela) Hampton of Columbia, Tennessee and Su-Ann Hampton Hurley of Rossville, Georgia; grandchildren: Berry L. Hampton, II of Nashville, Tennessee, Rachel Mae (Jared) Moore of Nashville, Tennessee and Shelly Nicole Hurley and fiancée Chris Smith (and his children, Olivia and Chase Smith) of Ringgold, Georgia; great-grandchild: Caiden Michael Smith, of Ringgold, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mrs. Hampton will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Pine Park Cemetery in Cairo, Georgia.
