Dorothy A. Trousdale, “Mama Dot”, a native of Lauderdale County, passed away March 25, 2013 at ECM Hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Trousdale was a graduate of Lauderdale County High School, attended Florence State College, and was employed by the City of Florence for 41 years where she was a board member of Florence Municipal Credit Union before retiring in 1992. She was a charter member of Edgemont United Methodist Church, and a member of the Horton Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Chris Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Trousdale was preceded in death by her husband, L.E. “Bob” Trousdale; brothers, O.Y. Alexander, Jr., Cedric Alexander; parents, Oliver and Lula Mae Alexander.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Trousdale and wife Jerri of Killen, Ronald Trousdale and wife Angie of Panama City, Florida; daughter, Brenda Tease and husband William of Florence; sister, Betty Glass and husband Glen of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Keith Tice (Shari) of Birmingham, Kevin Tice (Michelle) of Florence, Mark Tice of Huntsville, Kenneth Blair Tice of Florence, Heath Trousdale (Tricia) of Florence, Heather Whorton (Tracy) of Huntsville, Dawn Potter of Huntsville, and Torey Trousdale of Muscle Shoals, Caitlyn Trousdale of Huntsville, Scottie Durham (Brittany) of Florence, Anthony Durham (Rikki) of Florence, Christian Tease (Kim) of Grayson, GA, Michael Tease (Natalie) of Athens; 18 great-grandchildren; and her beloved Dachshund, Ginger.
Active pallbearers will be Keith, Kevin, Mark, Blair, Heath, Torey, Tracy, and Scottie.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Horton Sunday School Class of Edgemont United Methodist Church, Glen Glass, and Dr. Lyman Mitchell.
Special thanks to her caregivers, Amanda Moore, Debbie Foust, Heather Olive, and Cyndy Eldridge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edgemont United Methodist Church, Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, or Alzheimer’s Association.
