“Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”
Doris Scallions Hill, age 99, passed away peacefully at her home in Ripley, Tennessee, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Born and raised in Ripley, she was the beloved daughter of Hershel and Rachel Scallions of Woodville, TN.
Doris was a devoted wife to the late James Cleveland Hill Sr., and together they built a beautiful life centered around family and faith. She was the proud mother of three children: James C. Hill Jr., Robert Anthony Hill (Wanda), and Angela Dee Garcia, all of Ripley.
Doris worked many years at Haltex in Halls, TN, and was known for her incredible work ethic and kind spirit. In her personal life, she found great joy in cooking, gardening, and most especially in caring for those around her. Her love and nurturing presence touched every generation of her family.
She is survived by her loving brother, Rev. Jack Scallions (Paulette) of Athens, TN; her three children; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brother Durwood Scallions, and her parents.
Doris lived a life full of grace, strength, and quiet wisdom. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
