Doris Olean Stanford, 89, of Athens, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at her residence. She was born on October 30, 1935, in Mississippi to Alvin Tollison and Erma Ashmore Tollison.Mrs. Stanford is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Stanford; three brothers, Harold, John and Robert Tollison.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to crochet, and she was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Danny Reed Stanford; one daughter, Patti Stanford Cates; one granddaughter, Michaela Cates; one great grandson, Aiden Nugent; many family members and friends.
The funeral service will be Monday, August 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Cherry Grove Baptist Church with Terry Lamar and Mike Kelly officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 12 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.
