Doris Nell Robbins Crauswell, age 93, of Hayden, Alabama, passed away on February 9, 2026. Born on July 25, 1932, in Walker County, Alabama, Doris was the daughter of Paul B. Robbins and Mavis Glover Collins. She was educated at Red Mill School and Hill School in Walker County and, Corner High School with the Class of 1950. Doris lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service. She was baptized in 1958 at Unity Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama, and throughout her life remained active in her church communities, including Ryan’s Creek Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In the early 1970s, Doris opened her home as a foster parent, caring for numerous children over a period of time and offering them stability, compassion, and love. Her caring nature extended into her work as an elderly companion, cook’s assistant, and in hospital service roles. She found joy in quilting groups, supporting Kings Ranch, and participating in other community service activities, always seeking ways to quietly help others. Doris grew up surrounded by a large extended family, living near her nine maternal aunts and uncles and twenty-nine first cousins. Family connections remained important to her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul B. Robbins and Mavis Glover Collins; her husband and the father of her children, Rev. William J. Crauswell; and her brothers, Charles Haynes and Wallace Haynes. She is survived by her five children, David Crauswell, Elizabeth Verchio (Eugene), Selesta Tucker, William Crauswell, and Camilla Mitchell (Terry); grandchildren, James Crauswell, Phillip Crauswell (Angela), John Crauswell (Courtney), Adrienne Meuse (Joish Omura), Ian Tucker (Katie) Marena Crauswell, Sharla Easterwood (Bailey), Christa McFarland (Kyle), Kimberly Crauswell, Gloria Crauswell, Joanna Crauswell, Rebekah Crauswell, Michael Mitchell and Kyle Mitchell; fourteen great-grandchildren; and her sister, Carolyn Haynes Kyle. She is also lovingly remembered by many extended family members and friends whose lives she touched. Funeral services will be held on Friday at Partridge Crossroads Baptist Church at 12:00 p.m., followed by burial at Union Cemetery. Doris will be remembered for her quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering faith. Her life reflected a steady commitment to caring for others, and her legacy lives on through the family and community she so faithfully served.
