Mrs. Doris Merrell, age 79, of Empire went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. Merrell worked as a bus driver for Bagley Elementary in the Jefferson County School District. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother and best great grandmother. Her hobbies were reading, doing yard work and spending time with family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Merrell.
Survivors include her daughters, Pam A. Crocker and her husband Barry and Angela M. Humber and her husband, Robert; three grandsons, Justin M. Crocker and his wife Tabitha, Ryan Humber and his wife, Candie and Ken M. Humber; two great grandchildren, Rayna Scarlett Humber and Jenson Robert Humber; sisters, Joyce Cooley and her husband, J.L. and Nell Reeves and her husband, James; and a host of other relatives and friends.
