Mrs. Doris Mabel Green Head, age 96, of Arab, Alabama passed away at her daughter’s home in Cedar Bluff, Alabama Sunday morning, December 21, 2025. Mrs. Head was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 15, 1929, daughter of Curtis Green and Ira Camp Green. Mrs. Head was a lifelong resident of the Arab community and a prominent and successful business owner. She and her husband, Glen Jackson Head (DOD 1987), were owner and operator of Space Age Service Station and Convenience Store.
Mrs. Head was of the Baptist Faith and until health became an issue, she was faithful to Gilliam Spring Baptist Church. Mrs. Head loved every moment as a business owner and of the time spent at the store. She found it to be extremely difficult walking away when health and age demanded it.
Mrs. Head is survived by her son, Shannon Jackson Head; her daughters, Patsy Head Hyatt, (Johnny) and Sherry Head Holland (Neal); ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Ira Green; her husband, Glen Jackson Head; and her sister, Ann Green Dyar.
Services for Mrs. Head will be Tuesday, December 23, at Gilliam Spring Baptist Church. The family will receive friends and guests for visitation between the hours of 12:00 noon and 2:00PM. with funeral services immediately following at 2:00. Brother Jamie Pruett will officiate. Burial will be in Gilliam Springs Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Hampton Chappell, Clayton Murray, John Wilson Murray, Blake Jackson Head, Ty Patterson, and Jackson Holland. Honorary pallbearers are Jordan Holland, Sawyer Holland and Sterling Holland. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
