Dora Blanche Brock Reeves – Obituary

Mrs. Dora Blanche Brock Reeves, age 88 of Vernon, AL, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Mrs. Reeves was born March 25, 1930, in Detroit, MI, to the late James Monroe and Mollie Ellen Brock.  She taught first grade at Kennedy Elementary for a couple of years after attending Livingston State Teachers College.  She also worked at the Lamar County General Hospital for a time, and she spend most of her working career the permit and fuel tax clerk for Thomas Truck Lease for over thirty years.  Mrs. Reeves was married to the late Charles A. Reeves and was member of the First Baptist Church in Vernon.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles Michael Reeves, and four brothers, Johnny Leo Brock, William Hubert Brock, James Allen Brock, and Byrum Elmo Brock.

Funeral services will be Saturday, at 2:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Vernon, with Bro. Clyde Stevens and Bro. David Woods officiating.  Burial will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be Saturday 1:00-2:00 at the church prior to the service.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice Carol Reeves (Buddy) Irving of Vernon, AL; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Reeves of Vernon, AL; four grandchildren, Michelle Reeves (Rick) Million of Vernon, AL, Kristen Reeves of Columbus, MS, Leah E. Hawthorne (Justin) Vollenweider of Columbus, MS, and Michael Joshua (Landon) Reeves of Jasper, AL; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Brock, Betty Lou Brock, and Gloria Brock; and a host of other family and friends.
