Donny L. “Don” Ford, of Muscle Shoals, died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the age of 71. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, October 28, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m., in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Jeff Eddie is officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Cemetery.
Don was born in Decatur, Alabama, on March 4, 1942, to the late Garvis L. and Lilly Pirkle Ford. He was the owner of a logistics company and was also active in the community. Don was a past member of the Decatur and Tuscumbia Jaycees, having served as president. In addition to his parents, Don was also preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Ford of Tuscumbia.
Don is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Barbara Thompson Ford; sons, Chris Ford and wife Tara Mann Ford of Fayetteville, NC, Pat Ford of Pulaski, TN, and Mike Ford and wife Brooke Orman Ford of Tuscumbia; daughters, Michelle Jones and husband David of Orange Beach, and Melanie Ford Dodson of Pulaski, TN; and six grandchildren, Savannah Bridges, Justin Bridges, Zach Ford, Madison Ford, Logan McCalpin, and Chris Jones.
Pallbearers include Dean Perry, Ronnie Ezell, Gary Evans, Sam Scarborough, David Ray, and David Haygood.
