Donnie Dickey Dunn, age 85, of Brentwood, TN, formerly of Huntsville, AL, passed away Saturday May 31, 2014. Donnie was born May 13, 1929 in New Hope, Alabama, to Nannie H. and Walter B. Dickey. She was a loving mother, a devoted wife, a supportive sister, and a doting grandmother. In her earlier years, she enjoyed cooking and hosting parties, bowling, playing cards and going on walks. In her latter years, she loved playing bingo with her friends and spending time with her grandchildren. She retired from the Travel Office at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama in 1990, then built a new home on the site of her childhood home. She was a long time member of the congregation at Holmes Street United Methodist Church in Huntsville.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lloyd Dunn, parents Nannie and Walter Dickey, brothers, Jack, Rayburn, Coy, Jim and Boyd, and sisters, Mary and Sis Dickey.
She is survived by her devoted children, Denise Dunn Shepherd (Ronald) of Beijing, China, and Daryl Dunn (Shelley) of Nolensville Tennessee; and grandchildren, Jason Shepherd of Burlington, VT, Katie Shepherd of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Caroline, Susanna and Garrett Dunn, all of Nolensville, TN.
Visitation with the family will be at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Wednesday, June 4. The funeral service will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 5, with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville immediately following.
