Funeral services for Donna V. Pate Patterson, age 79 of Delta, will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland, with Reverend’s John Roberts and Jerry Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Union D. Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Patterson was born in Cleburne County, was one of 12 children and grew up to a hard working life on the farm. She would often talk about the early days working in the cotton fields and life on the farm. She then worked for several years as a Home Health Aide with Quality Care in Anniston, and also with Magic Chef, bur truly loved spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Union D. Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Patterson of Delta; two daughters: Wanda Yates (Robert) of Delta, and Karen Caldwell (James Robert) of Ashland; two sons: Jim Strickland (Stephanie) of Oxford and Thomas Strickland (Kris) of Delta; three Brothers: Lawrence Pate (Bobbie) of Lineville, Albert Pate (Jane) of Chulafinnee, and Wendell Pate (Lisa) of Wedowee; 10 Grandchildren and nine Great-grandchildren plus a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Levi Pate and Odera Morrison Pate; three sisters: Lavern Lecroy, Sue Carden, and Melba Turner; five brothers: Clay, Bobby, Elbert, KV, and Perry Pate, and one great-granddaughter Ryleigh Smith.
Pallbearers will be Logan Yates, Josh Giddens, Clay Yates, Kellen Caldwell, Cameron Wilson and Heath Pate. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Hospice of Clay County.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland from 11:30 A.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Clay County.
