Donna Lee McWilliams Maier, 53, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was called home to the Lord on Sunday, July 24, 2016, after a long battle with Melanoma. Donna was born in Sheffield, Alabama to Charles McWilliams and Dorothy Blankinship McWilliams. She graduated high school from Mars Hill Bible School. She received a bachelor’s in management/marketing from the University of North Alabama and completed her master’s degree in accounting at McNeese State University. She was the senior financial analyst at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and worked there for 30 years. She was also an active member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Donna’s first love was her family. She had a special bond with her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed traveling and Alabama football (Roll Tide). Donna loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and maintained a loving relationship with God until her death. Her strength and faith in the Lord was an inspiration to many of her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 13 years, Richard Lee Maier; her children, Patricia Granier (Steven), Steven Maier (Susie), Cody Dougay (Lacey), and Karen Doucet (Shawn); siblings, Don McWilliams (Linda), David McWilliams (Theresa), Deborah Thrasher, Robert Crittenden (Barbara), Ricky Crittenden (Kym), and Mary Martha Irons (Keith); nephews, Andy McWilliams and fiancée, Annamarie, and Lukas McWilliams; and nieces, Kaitlyn McWilliams and Ashley Thrasher. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles McWilliams and Dorothy Blankinship McWilliams, and stepmother, Robbie Ann McWilliams.
Visitation was at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Monday, July 25, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service was Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at 10 a.m. The graveside service will be Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 10 a.m. in Sheffield, Alabama at Oakwood Cemetery.
