Donna Faye (Swindle) Stanger, 83, passed away at her home on April 6, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family and close friends.  She will be deeply missed.

Donna was born in Townley, Alabama on July 1, 1939 to Eula and Jesse Swindle. She grew up on a farm and always loved their land.  An intelligent and industrious woman, she graduated from Carbon Hill High School at the age of 16. She went on to study Elementary Education at Ricks College and Brigham Young University.  After graduating with a cum laude degree in Elementary Education, she started her first job at Iona Elementary, kickstarting her 36 year career in education. She went on to get her masters degree at University of Alabama in Birmingham and her EdS at the University of Alabama. Donna was a lifelong learner who loved to be in school, both learning and teaching.

In 1957, Donna met her husband Alfred Lloyd Stanger.  They were married for time and all eternity in the Logan, UT Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Donna and Lloyd went on to have three children, Brenda, John, and Jamie. They were married for 59 years.

Besides spending time with family and friends, Donna’s passion was teaching.  She especially loved teaching students to read. She also relished teaching her beloved students patriotic songs that they performed for their peers in school programs. Donna’s interests were many. She taught Seminary to the youth at church for 12 years. She loved reading religious books, playing the piano and organ, gardening, crocheting, oil painting, quilting, teaching classes about the US constitution, and traveling, to name a few.   She had a strong and undying faith in Jesus Christ. The words quit, surrender, forfeit, and yield were not in her vocabulary. Donna had a warm and loving personality. She found great satisfaction in serving others.

Donna Faye Stanger is survived by her daughter, Brenda and her husband, Tom; her sons, John Stanger and his wife, Terrie; and Jamie Stanger and his wife, Dana. She has eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and thousands of former students.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eula and Jesse Swindle: her husband, Alfred Lloyd Stanger: her brother, James Swindle.
