Donald W. Milligan, age 79, of Trinity, released his hold on earthly life and accepted a promotion to an eternal home with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 21st, at Floyd E. “Tut” Fann Veterans Home in Huntsville following a series of health issues suffered in 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Orlando Milligan and Sarah Melvina Wininger Milligan, also of Trinity, as well as his siblings, two brothers and five sisters.
Don is survived and lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law, Mavis M. Milligan, and a host of nephews and nieces residing in multiple states.
He retired from General Electric, where he worked as a lineman. However, earlier in life he served in the U.S. Air Force in both the United States and the Philippine Islands. After that, he worked alternately in carpentry, as a truck driver, and in bricklaying. In retirement, he enjoyed cutting wood, and supplied firewood to both individuals and to restaurants for cooking.
Always one to enjoy the outdoors, Don enjoyed playing golf and softball with GE, Decatur Baptist and Fellowship Baptist Church, fishing, and he especially looked forward to hunting, often with nephews.
A Christian from his youth, when he grew up on a farm in Clarkston, Michigan, Don not only attended church but taught Sunday school classes. Locally, he was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Decatur.
