Donald William Long, 68, of Decatur passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. Mr. Long’s greatest joy in life were his three daughters and two granddaughters. Mr. Long was a member of the Elks Lodge in Decatur. He is preceded in death by his parents Ottis B. and Lorene Beatty Long, and a brother Douglas Long. He is survived by his wife Jeannie Long of Decatur; three daughters, Angela Long Hunter (Barry) of Tuscaloosa, AL; Amie Long Phillips of Nashville, TN and Jamie Long Hicks (Warren) of Decatur; two granddaughters, Amelia and Lila Hicks of Decatur; two sisters, Jane Jackson of Hartselle, and Charlotte Clark of Hartselle; and a sister-in-law, Anita Long of Moulton. Per Mr. Long’s request a private family service will be held at the beach. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Dialysis Center Inc. 1601 6th Avenue Decatur, Alabama 35601 or The American Heart Association.
