Donald Roy Gover – Obituary

Don Gover Donald Roy Gover age 77 passed away September 5, 2018 at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis.

He was born March 14, 1941 in Tipton, OK and grew up at Earth, TX the son of the late Roy and Ruby Mildred Sturgess Gover. He graduated from Spring Lake Earth High School in 1959 and went two years to Lubbock Christian College.

He married Linda Sue Wilson in 1961. He farmed as a young man as he re-entered college. He worked as a technician for Circle N and went to work at Owens Corning in the early 70’s in Amarillo, TX. He transferred to Owens Corning in Jackson in 1996 and continued to work there until he retired.

He was very ingenious in trying to make life better for Brandon. He was the typical engineer, being interested in how things were made and how they operated.

He and Linda were ‘home away from home’ parents to the students of PKA at Freed-Hardeman University for over nineteen years.

He loved the outdoors. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. He was a six foot seven “Gentle Giant”, a good Christian man. He was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.

Mr. Gover is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Wilson Gover of Henderson; a son, Brett Gover and wife JoHanna of Arlington, TX and a daughter, Staci McMillan and husband Steve of Tyler, TX; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Ruth Whitson of Holly Lake Ranch, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Brandon Gover in 2001 and a sister, Jane Gover George.

Memorial services will be 4:00 PM Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Henderson Church of Christ with Roy Sharp and Billy Smith officiating. Members of Phi Kappa Alpha Social Club will assist with the service.

The family will receive friends at the Henderson Church of Christ 2:00 PM Thursday until 4:00 PM.
