Donald Reid Smith, Sr., 88, passed away January 3, 2025, at Helen Keller Hospital. He was retired from Reynolds Alloy, a former member of the Lexington Fire & Rescue Squad, a deacon at Lexington First Baptist Church and a veteran of the United Staes Navy. Survivors include: Sons: Jerry Smith, Ronny Smith(Beth) Daughters: Connie Pilgrim, Tawna Evans(Joe) Brothers: Arnold Smith, Harold Smith Grandchildren: Courtney Kennemer(Trey), Brandi Blanton(Ted), Chasley Smith(Mallory), Casey Pulliam, Channing Gasque(Alex), Torie Minor(Heath), Kristen Mathis(Jeremy), Paden Smith(Shay), Makayla Smith (10) great grandchildren Preceded in death by: Wife: Shirley Shelton Smith Parents: Herbert E. Smith & Mamie Leo Patterson Smith Son: Donny Smith Son-in-law: Tommy Pilgrim Sister: Willese McConnell Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 11:00am – 1:00pm, at Lexington First Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm, at the church, with Jeff Cruse officiating. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery with military honors at the graveside. Pallbearers will be: Chasley Smith, Casey Pulliam, Paden Smith, Heath Minor, Alex Gasque & Trey Kennemer.
