Donald Ray Horton – Obituary

Donald Ray Horton, 82, of Florence passed away October 20, 2018, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

 

Ray loved antiques: cars, furniture, coins, pocket watches, and grandfather clocks.  He was an incredibly talented guitar player and was the last surviving member of Dry Creek Band.  Ray attended Community Freewill Baptist Church of Florence where he enjoyed playing guitar in the church and all the loving fellowship with his church family.

 

Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 24, 2018, 11 AM at Community Freewill Baptist Church of Florence with Bro. Malcolm Scott officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Lissie Horton; brothers, Weldon, James, and Charles Horton; sisters, Joyce Horton, Reba Hannah, and Mary Scudiere.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Robbie Foust Horton; daughter, Robin Horton; sons, Keith Horton (Cherie) and Clay Horton; grandchildren, Carissa Little (Fred), Allison Conner, Will Horton (Jordan), Suzanne Stowe, Cameron, Brittany, Gabby, and Maddie Horton; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Garrett, Abram, Taylor, Caleb, Nolen, and Anderson; brothers Robert Horton (Carolyn) and Larry Horton (Vivian); sisters, Bettie Jean Hayashi and Patricia Davis (Bill); numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Pallbearers will be David Smith, David Hayashi, Bubba Smith, Suzanne Stowe, Will Horton, and Cameron Horton.
