Donald Newton RameyDonald Newton Ramey, 89, of Huntsville, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022.

Donald was born in Huntsville and grew up in Lincoln Village where he and his beloved wife of 65 years, Emily, originally met. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Athens Bible School, The University of Alabama and David Lipscomb University. He preached the good news of Jesus Christ for over 60 years. He preached at East Huntsville Church of Christ, Huntsville Park, Central in Abilene, TX, Germantown, Farmington and Union City, TN, and Meridianville, AL. He predominantly preached in many Churches of Christ in North Alabama and middle Tennessee but also across the eastern United States. Donald was also a veteran of multimedia by being active in several gospel radio broadcasts in Union City, Fayetteville, and Huntsville. He was a founding staff member of Madison Academy in Hunstville, AL. He also taught there and served on The Board of Directors of the school for several years. Donald was an avid Ham radio operator for many years and loved building different types of electronic equipment.

His driving desire was the edification and encouragement of The Body of Christ and seeing The Kingdom of God advance in strength, both spiritually and physically. He was a lover of his brothers and sisters in Christ and his son Greg remarks,  “His walk was his talk. He was genuine in character and will be greatly missed. The heavenly chorus now has another bass voice that loves to sing praise to The King.”

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Lamb Ramey; daughter, Melanie McCutcheon; father and mother, Benjamin and Eva Ramey; and brothers: Doyle, Curtis, and Edwin Ramey.

Survivors include his son, Greg (Janice); four grandchildren: Jennifer Jones, Jason Hale, Hannah and Zachary Ramey; five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
