Donald Mason Ramsey, 72, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, after a long illness. He was born November 14, 1948 in Nuremberg, Germany to John Henry Ramsey and Louise Worsham Ramsey. Donald graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a software engineer by trade and his engineering mind carried over to all areas of life. He was inquisitive, pragmatic, and whimsical all rolled into one. He had a passion for flight and could not wait to tune in to the next big SpaceX launch. He was always engaged in a pursuit for knowledge, connection, and understanding. He was a voracious reader and a wonderful conversationalist. He was a loving father and grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kathryn Willis Ramsey; daughter, Emily Mason Burch; son-in-law, Matthew Dale Burch; granddaughter, Hannah Kathryn Blanchard-Ramsey; and sister, Catherine Louise Ramsey.
A private burial will be planned at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association for further research for a cure for pulmonary fibrosis.
