Donald Lee Gill Sr, age 68 of Decherd, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. A native of Franklin County, he was born on July 1, 1954, in Winchester to the late Claude Buck and Martha Evelyn (Finchum) Gill. He was retired from Commercial Nursery and had worked for twenty years at Franklin County Lumber. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, racing, and working on cars. He also enjoyed playing softball and had been the pitcher for the Mallards. But most of all, Donnie enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his generous and caring nature, as he would do anything for anyone. When he was able, Donnie attended Decherd Mission Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond “Tatero” Gill; and sister, Jean Shepherd. Donnie is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Sandy Gill of Decherd; son, Lee (Candis) Gill of Winchester; grandchildren, Bailee Gill (Shelby Hardin) and Waylon Gill; great-granddaughter, Natalie; siblings, Sam Gill, Wayne Gill, Richard Gill, Curtis Gill, and Connie (Elton) Hall; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 27, 2022, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Howard Riddle officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with Tim Hodges, Jeremy Manley, Chad Shepherd, Charlie Green, Jason Vanzant, and Holden Vanzant serving as pallbearers.
