Rev. Dr. Donald Kaller, 86, passed away Nov. 18, 2017.

Don was born in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Washington University and Union Theological Seminary and received his Ed.D. from Memphis State University. He was married to Geraldine (Gerry) Prichard 62 years ago. They were missionaries in Brazil for 19 years.

Don became teacher and president of the Edward Lane Bible Institute to train lay pastors and schoolteachers. He helped develop a program of theological education by extension for lay evangelists to become pastors. After Brazil, he returned to the U.S. and served churches in Alabama, Kentucky, and Missouri.

He was an avid reader, appreciator of classical music, and ardent soccer player. He could always be counted on for a witty remark at an opportune time.

Don is survived by his wife and longtime travel companion, Gerry; his children, Anita (Steve) McEachron, Lisa Luck, Janet (Jon) Geerlings, Elizabeth Kaller, and Jeff (Sofia) Kaller; his grandchildren, Robert Lazenby, Sara White, Todd Kaller, Maggie Kaller, Hunter Kaller, River Luck, Jacob Geerlings, Elea Mahla, Hannah Geerlings, and Allie Kaller; and ten great-grandchildren.

The memorial service is Saturday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Presbyterian Church (7301 Shallowford Road). Those who wish may commemorate Don’s life by a donation to Living Waters for the World (https://www.livingwatersfortheworld.org) or Newton Child Development Center (P.O. Box 807 Chattanooga, TN 37402).
