Donald K. McRae – Obituary

donaldLTC Donald K. McRae, United States Air Force, died on November 27, 2016 at his home. He was a native of Fairfield, AL. Don earned his degree at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in Aeronautical Engineering in 1953. While at Alabama, he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He played trumpet in the Dixieland combo band, Melody Kings. Don was a Mason and a member of the Shriners International and was a shrine clown. He was an avid Alabama Football fan. Don was a member of the USAF Reserves.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas McRae and Laurene Bruce McRae, and his brother, James Thomas McRae, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Coral McRae; children, Bruce McRae (Melanie), Susan McRae, Scott McRae (Claudette) and Gayle Mantler (Andy); and four grandchildren, Anna and Savannah McRae, and Clay and Calla McCulley.
Burial will be at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Downtown Rescue Mission, Trinity United Methodist Church Hand Bell Choir, or the Huntsville Madison County Public Library, Baily Cove Branch.
