Don Edward Stout, Sr. (former resident of Huntsville, AL) passed away September 28, 2014 at home. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Irene Fleming and Robert Charles Stout. He graduated with honors from Philander Smith College in 1974 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and History. He was a member of Reid Temple AME Church, Glenn Dale, MD.
Since 2006 he has volunteered with the Veterans Wounded Warrior Program in Washington, D.C. and lobbied before Congress on behalf of Veteran Medical Issues. He is a U.S. Vietnam War Veteran and achieved a National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal.
He is survived by his wife Tressie Deborah Abernathy Stout whom he met in high school . They were married on March 3, 1966 in Little Rock, Arkansas . From their 47 year marriage they had three children: Sherry Telise Stout of Washington, D.C.; Don Edward Stout, Jr. (Kathy), of Huntsville, Alabama; Rhonda Lafaye Stout Edwards (Bruce) , of Bowie, Maryland; 4 grandchildren: Dennis Kimble Stout (Staci), Don E. Stout, III, Ashahli Ireanna Edwards, and Brooke McKenzie Edwards; and 1 great-grandchild: Denise Kendall Stout.
Don is survived by eight brothers and sisters: Thelma Rogers (Luther) of North Little Rock, AR; Andrew Stout (Ava) of North Little Rock, AR; Lucille Smith (Rauzelle) of Ruckersville, Virginia; Charles Stout of Las Vegas, NV; Joeann Thomas of Sherwood, AR; Dana Stout of North Little Rock, AR; Larry Stout of Modesto, CA; and Gail Huntley of Killeen, TX as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Rd. Bowie, MD 20715.
The Homegoing Celebration will commence on October 10, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Reid Temple AME Church, 11400 Glenn Dale Blvd. Glenn Dale, MD 20769.
Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
