Lavert Abernathy, Jr.
FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department answered a Domestic Violence call which lead to several Felony Charges. Here is how the Florence Police Department described the incident:
“Florence Police have arrested and charged Lavert Abernathy, Jr, 41, of Florence with multiple offenses after responding to a call of domestic violence late Monday night. Reports indicate that Abernathy is accused of forcing his way into a residence and hold the occupants against their will while being armed with a weapon. Police responded to a call for assistance shortly before midnight on Monday. After reviewing the evidence in this case and conducting interviews, Detectives have charged Abernathy with multiple counts in this case. Abernathy is charged as follows: Kidnapping 1st (2 counts), Domestic Violence (Burglary 1st), Domestic Violence (Menacing), Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd, Aggravated Stalking, and Violation of a Domestic Violence Protection Order. Additional charges are pending in this case. Abernathy is currently being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center without bond.
