John Paul David Puckett, Sr.
DECATUR-A domestic disturbance on Thursday, July 6 resulted in the death of James Paul Ward, 43. According to the police Ward was stabbed in the chest allegedly by his uncle, John Paul David Puckett, Sr., 59.
Officers from the Decatur Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call at 9:26 PM on Thursday. There they found Puckett walking away from the scene of the crime. Police too Puckett back to the house.
Puckett was released three weeks ago for a third-degree criminal trespass charge,from the Morgan County jail according to jail records. Morgan County 911 officials said there have been 11 911 calls from the residence since January.
Witnesses told authorities the two men had been drinking before the fight ensued.
Puckett remained in Morgan County Jail with bail set at $150,000.
