FLORENCE-Please join the celebration of Arbor Week at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library on February 5 at 10:00 AM. Dale Dickens will speak on, Arbor Week Accolades: Recognizing Florence’s tree successes–honoring people and promoting tree
care.
Dale has served since 2014 with the Alabama Forestry Commission as Alabama’s Urban Forestry Coordinator and worked as Director of Student Services for Auburn University’s School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences. He is a registered forester in Alabama, and holds both a B.S. in forest management and an M.S. in forest biometrics from Auburn University.
Memorials will be recognized, and memorial gift donations may be made to the City Commemorative Tree program. Florence Tree Commission advisor, Steve McEachron, will review the history of Florence as a Tree City USA. There will be a free dogwood seedling giveaway at the end of the program, presented by the Florence Tree Commission advisors, and the Hibbett School Arbor Day student artwork winners will be announced.
