Dixie Wyers Dixie Ann Bynum Wyers died at her home in Lacey’s Spring on July 5, 2026, surrounded by her family. Dixie was born on May 18, 1940, to Estelle Cody Bynum and Jake Bynum in Grove Oak, Alabama. Her husband, Jim Wyers preceded her in death by nine days.

Dixie was an avid fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football and the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed attending Cubs games with her daughter, Tina Wyers.
Dixie married James Wyers in 1958. Together, they owned and operated Woodville Dairy Bar in Woodville for 30 years. Dixie also served as City Councilwoman of Woodville.

She loved Boston terriers and cats, having rescued many feral kittens over the years. She also excelled at sewing, embroidery, quilting and designing dollhouses. Her jams and jellies were sought after by friends and family. She enjoyed Apple Day, an apple butter making event started by her brother Wayne.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughters Pam Werstler (Tom); Brenda Zaks (Robby); and Tina Wyers (Kacy Parker); brothers Wayne Bynum (Faye); Calvin Noblitt (Pat); sister Freda Gilbert (Dan); grandchildren Rodney Hasty; Amber Hasty Mills (Matt); and Alora Frank (Danny); great grandchildren Zoe Mills, Skylar Mills and Silas Frank.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. For those wishing to honor her memory, her favorite charity was Forgotten Felines in Huntsville.
