Funeral service for Dina Springer Byrd, 57, will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Hartselle with Rev. Charlie Brown and Bro. Neal Culberson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Ms. Byrd died on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at her residence. She was born February 3, 1956, in Morgan County to Henry Jr. Springer and Carolyn Green Springer. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Dina was a mother first and a nurse second. Her career consisted of the Director of Labor and Delivery at Decatur General Hospital. She was also responsible for developing Caregivers of the Valley, a division of Hospice of the Valley. Her nursing career totaled over 34 years. The new training facility at Caregivers of the Valley was recently named “Dina’s Place” in honor of her hard work and dedication. She was preceded in death by Gary Byrd, a brother: Jeff Springer and a grandson: John Thomas Huff.
