Funeral service for Dierdre Susan Smith Parker, age 63, of Decatur, will be Thursday, October 16, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Doug Ripley and Rev. Hank Smith officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Parker, who died Monday, October 13, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born April 16, 1951, in Memphis, TN, to J. T. Smith and Ruth Brooks Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Mike Smith, and one sister, Becky Dishman. Mrs. Parker was a Registered Nurse, and was a devoted member of Decatur Baptist Church for 23 years.
She is survived by her husband, Harlan W. Parker of Decatur; three sons, Jason Putman (Kelly) of Birmingham, Jeff Parker (Cathy) of Decatur, and Mark Parker (Heather) of Birmingham; daughter, Gina Moore (Josh) of Decatur; four sisters, Abbe Bailey, Debbie Smith, Cindy Bowling, and Martha Taylor; and 10 grandchildren, Jackson Parker, Spencer Parker, Cameron Parker, Brooklyn Parker, Anna Grace Putman, Michael Putman, Andrew Putman, Mason Moore, Sam Parker, and Gracie Parker.
Pallbearers will be family.
