FLORENCE-Florence Arts & Museums is hosting a community event where visitors can celebrate and learn about the Latine holiday of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The community is invited to explore the history and cultural significance behind the celebration of the holiday with various educational activities, including vela (candle) making, flores de papel (tissue paper flowers) & papel picado (punched paper) making, ofrenda (altar) decorating, and more. This event will also feature Latine Art from the Kennedy-Douglass Art Collection and complimentary hot chocolate.
Join us on Saturday, November 1, from 1 to 4 pm for a come-and-go event and activities related to Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). First, make your candle, then enjoy the other activities while your candle sets for 30 minutes. Afterward, you can take your candle with you, or use it to decorate the ofrenda.We hope to see you there!
