Dewey L. Davis was born in Gastonia, North Carolina. He went to be with our Lord on June 24, 2026 at 86 years young. He was a member of Wooley Springs Baptist Church in Toney, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lattie J. and Essie Price Davis. He was the youngest child and preceded in death by his siblings Ernest, Gladys, Earl, Irene, and Louise. His bonus daughter Karen also preceded him in death.
Dewey is survived by his devoted wife Susan, daughters Jennifer (James) and Rebecca, grandsons Cody and Justin, bonus daughter Melissa, numerous nieces and nephews, and a very large extended family, whose fellowship he valued.
Dewey honorably served his country for eight years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era, completing courses in radar and computing technologies. After the military, he worked in the aerospace industry until his retirement.
He was a graduate of University of North Carolina and big fan of Tar Heels basketball. He also supported Auburn University sports. Another favorite pastime was computer games.
Dewey loved dogs, especially Boston Terriers, and enjoyed raising many throughout the years. He was quite a prankster with a playful, humorous personality. He will be missed by many, fortunate enough to know his loving and gentle spirit.
Memorial services for Dewey will be held Thursday, July 2 at Hampton Cove Funeral Home, with visitation at 1pm and funeral at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions can be made to preferred charities in honor of Mr. Dewey Davis.
