Dewey Gene Carter Jr. – Obituary

Mr. Dewey Gene Carter Jr., 72, of Russellville, Alabama, passed away December 25, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a self-employed brick mason (Carter Masonry) and attended Siloam Baptist Church of Russellville. A native of Birmingham, he had lived in Russellville for the past eight and one half years. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from 1966 – 1978.

Visitation with family will be Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville. Services will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Russellville.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Deloris Carter; children, Christian David Carter, Brad Carter (Vickie), Lisa Wesson (James), Gena Hyatt (Jonathan), and Matthew Carter (Domique); stepchildren, Monica Salter, Carmen Pesnell (Ray), Jennifer Burks (Johnny), and Tommy Jones (Kelly). Three sisters also survive him as do grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Dewey Garland Carter Jr. and Mildred Bullock; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, is directing.
