Dewayne Clayton “Wayne” Cole, 65, Leighton, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Visitation will be Sunday, October 29, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Monday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Tony Watson officiating. Interment will be in Shaw Cemetery, Leighton.
Wayne was a native of Aberdeen, Ohio, and a twenty-six-year resident of Leighton, Alabama. He was a member of IBEW Local 429 Nashville for over thirty years, working on powerlines all over the country. Wayne was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a faithful provider, taking great care of his family. He had a special love for his children, grandchildren, and his loyal pet, “Whiskey.” Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Clayton Cole; mother, Edith Litteral; and sister, Shelby Stamper.
Wayne is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Glenda Cole; daughters, Andrea Francis (Brian Padgett), Melissa Owens (Randall), Laura King, and Maryah Beth Garrett (Anthony); grandchildren, Jason Francis, Addimae Padgett, Ethan Benford, Grayson Owens, Ashton Dover, and Addison Owens; and special sisters-in-law, Robbin Bratcher and Kaye Jones.
Pallbearers will be Randall Owens, Jeremy Jones, Jason Francis, Ethan Benford, Grayson Owens, and Eli Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles McCoy, Jason Greenwood, Charles “Redbird” Burton, and Jackie “Jack Rock” Burton.
