Funeral services for Dennis Nyle Kahler, 79, of Bangor will be Saturday, September 19th at 3:00 P.M. at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Cullman City Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Mr. Alton Bailey. Visitation will be the night prior, Friday September 18th, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hanceville Funeral Home.
Mr. Kahler lived a life of service to his country and community in the army, national guard, and Birmingham Fire Department. He also loved storytelling and music and was the president of the Alabama Songwriters Association for many years. He was also well known for his role of “Santa Claus,” and was often found at the North Cullman mall and many daycares during the holiday season. He loved to make children’s day by being Santa Claus.
Mr. Kahler loved the numerous pets he had over the years and enjoyed spending his time outside with them. But above all else, he loved his family more than anything.
Mr. Kahler is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Kahler; children, Kris (Kim) Kahler, Kim (Jeff) Ray; grandchildren, Jessica (Bailey) Horton, Courtney (Drew) Padgett, Kayley Kahler, Keaton Kahler, Austin Ray; sister, Bonnie Morrow; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews who loved him dearly.
Mr. Kahler is preceded in death by his parents, John Howard Kahler III and Florence Isabell Confer Kahler; and brothers, Terry and Jack Kahler.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Ray, Keaton Kahler, Austin Ray, Bailey Horton, Drew Padgett, and Jeff Green.
