Dennis Eugene Meier, age 80, of Westwood, Kentucky went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 30, 2021, at Kings Daughter Hospital from a very sudden unexpected illness. He was born in Tipton, Iowa on August 9, 1940, to the late William “Bill” Meier and Nadine Windchip Meier. He was also preceded in death by a brother and his grandson, Christian Barber of Kentucky.
Dennis was the oldest child in his family, so he was taught very young a strong work ethic. He was still employed by Belk Department Store in maintenance at the time of his death. He was born and raised in the mid-west and lived in several states including Colorado, Arizona, Tennessee and then to Kentucky.
He served this country in the United States Marines with honor and distinction. He was a loving, beloved husband, father, son, brother, Papa, brother in love, all that knew him loved and cherished him. Dennis enjoyed nature and his early morning strolls when the day was dawning and he loved walking his precious dog, Scooter. He was a devout Christian. He loved worshipping his Lord and Savior and reading and studying God’s word. He was of the Baptist faith.
He enjoyed being able to joke and argue in fun with his Wilkerson brother-in-law and of course playing pool with his family and neighbors, when he and Linda owned Keith Springs Market and beating his brother-in-law, Kenneth. He loved Pepsi cola and his occasional chew.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 28 years, Linda Wilkerson Meier of Westwood, Kentucky; his son, Wade and wife Cara and grandson, Emmett of Cortez, Colorado; his son, Travis and wife Patty and grandchildren, Tyler and Samantha (“Sam”) of Apache Junction, Arizona; his son, Billy Joe Davis of Westwood, Kentucky and grandson, Billy Don Davis of Ft. Orange, Florida; his daughter, Terri Davis of Overland Park, Kansas; his grandchildren Jade Marie Culwell (Derek Freeman) of Baseher, Kansas and her children, Keira Dominquez of Salina, Kansas; David Dominquez of Baseher, Kansas and Dallas Wilhelm of Baseher, Kansas; Sarah Parker (Zack Mason) of Columbus, GA; Lindey (Adam Epting) of Mission, Kansas; Patricia Herrick of Overland Park, Kansas; his daughter, Tammi Barber of West Palm Beach, FL; her children, Ashley Sexton of Cincinnati, Ohio and her daughter Essie; Rob Barber and his wife Jill and their children, Robbie, Jr. and Jett of Bloomington, Indiana, Josh Barber of Westwood, KY, his sister, Jackie Meier of Iowa; brother, Ricky Meier of Payson, Arizona; Ronnie Meier of Iowa, Rusty Meier of Iowa and Mark Meier of Iowa. A host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 4, 2021, in the Moore- Cortner Chapel with Bro. Eric Bradford officiating. Interment will follow at Keith Springs Cemetery with military honors.
