Delancy Huffstutler Gardner, 79, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away on August 10, 2026. Born May 25, 1947, Delancy will be remembered as a beloved and cherished presence whose steady devotion to God, family, and friends shaped a life marked by kindness, patience, and thoughtful care for others.
Delancy graduated from Susan Moore High School and Snead State Community College, carrying forward a hard-working spirit and a faithful heart that would guide her in every season of life.
Delancy retired from UAB as a respiratory therapist and also worked as a respiratory therapist for Scott Warner at Chest Medicine. In a profession defined by service, she was known for compassionate attention and a selfless commitment to those who depended on her, offering comfort through both skill and sincerity.
A devoted wife and mother, Delancy was the widow of Gus Gardner. She is survived by her daughters, Dana (J.J.) Adams, Jennifer Caudle; her sons, Steve Gardner, Sr., Laylon Gardner, Jr.; her sister, Juanita Huffstutler Staton; her brother, Ricky (Beth) Huffstutler; and her grandchildren, Stevie Gardner, Bella Gardner, Kashlyn Gardner, Cabri (Carter) Thornton, Savannah Adams, Zadie Caudle, Jonathan Gardner, Mary Gardner, Olivia (Jonny) Wise, Aloha (Sam) Ruane.
In addition to her professional life and deep love for family, Delancy was a professional artist and art teacher. Her creativity and careful attention reflected the same gentle spirit that defined her relationships—quietly uplifting, encouraging, and full of heart.
Delancy was a long time member of Temple Baptist church, a member of the Cullman art guild, and a leader of Temple Baptist church BALL club—roles she approached with faithful dedication and a sincere desire to serve.
Delancy was preceded in death by her husband, Laylon Gus Gardner, Sr.; her son, John Gardner; her son-in-law Tim Caudle; and her parents, W.T. and Myrtice Boggs Huffstutler.
Visitation will be held at Moss-Service Funeral Home, 1901 2nd Ave North West, Cullman, AL 35055, on August 13, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Moss-Service Funeral Home on August 13, 2026, from 2:00 pm pm. A Committal Service will be held at Sulphur Springs Cemetery, 3435 Rickwood Caverns Rd, Hayden, AL 35079, on August 13, 2026, from 3:00 pm.
