DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department issued a press release concerning a case of child abuse that was reported to them through the Decatur Police School Resource Officer:
“On April 17, 2023, at approximately 12 p.m., a Decatur Police School Resource Officer was notified of a possible incident of child abuse.
An employee of the school reported that a child had visible bruises and abusive markings upon their person that were consistent with signs of physical abuse.
Decatur Police Family Services Detectives and Morgan County Department of Human Resources Caseworkers were notified of the incident and an investigation was conducted. During the course of the investigation, Milaya Orr, 23, of Decatur, was determined to be the suspect.
Detectives made contact with Orr at a separate location later this date and placed her under arrest for the charge of torture, willful abuse, etc., of child under 18 years of age by responsible person
Orr was booked into the Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
“The defendant is accused of the above crimes and should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”
