DECATUR-The Decatur Police responded to a domestic call on Wimberly Drive in Decatur where shots had been fired. Here is how the Decatur Police describe the event:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On 1/7/15 at 5:38am, Decatur Police responded to a Domestic call at 2916 Wimberly Dr SW. Upon arrival, it was determined that a Domestic Violence case had occurred at the apartment complex, during which a shot was fired. The Domestic case involved Coradell Harris and his girlfriend.
A BOLO was issued for the vehicle that Harris left in. Ofc Shawn Holmes spotted the vehicle and stopped it near the intersection of Glenn St and O’Malley. It was determined that Harris had been shot in the upper thigh during the DV case.
Shunetta Garth-Russell was determined to be the shooter. She is the sister of Coradell Harris’ girlfriend.
She was charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree. She is currently out on bond for cases in the Decatur Municipal Court and in Morgan County Circuit Court. (see below)
Judge Jennifer Howell set Garth-Russell’s bond at $50,000.00. Her bond at Decatur Municipal Court is in the process of being revoked. She will be held in the City Jail until her previous misdemeanor charges are addressed.
Note: Garth-Russell was charged by DPD on 8/18/14 with Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle. The Morgan County District Attorney office is in the process of having her bond on that charge revoked.
The victim was treated and released from Decatur Morgan Hospital.”
