DECATUR-On January 30, 2014 Decatur Police Department’s Special Operations Unit arrested Joshua Hawkins under the felony charge of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
Here is what the Decatur Police Department had to say about the events leading up to the arrest and the arrest:
“During the month of January 2014, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit conducted an investigation into the illegal sales of heroin from a male known as Joshua Gregory Hawkins. During the investigation, Hawkins sold quantities of heroin on three separate occassions. The sales occurred within the city limits of Decatur.
On January 22, 2014 investigators obtained 3 felony warrants for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance on Hawkins.
On January 30, 2014, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Special Operations Unit conducted an operation to place Joshua Hawkins under arrest for his felony warrants for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
Investigators observed a dark colored Ford F-150 traveling west bound on Hwy 67. Investigators observed that the driver was Joshua Hawkins.
Members of the Decatur Police Department’s Special Operations Unit conducted a vehicle stop at the intersection of Country Club Road and Curtis Drive SE. Officers took Hawkins into custody. A search of Hawkins’ vehicle was conducted. The search revealed that he was in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hawkins was taken to Decatur City Jail to be booked in. During the booking process, officers located a quantity of heroin that Hawkins had concealed on his person.
Hawkins was charged with 3 counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Hawkins was booked in without further incident and later transferred to Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $18,000.00 bond.”
